I had "No Idea" that we would have changes yesterday until we were eating dinner on Saturday and the District Leader called. I had "No Idea" that my new companion would be Elder Rodriguez until President Reeves announced it over the pulpit before a Christmas devotional. I had "No Idea" that I would become District Leader in the Zone Tlaxcala, town of San Martin , area of Lindavista (NW of Puebla). I had "No Idea" where the house was or how to get to the area yesterday because Elder Rodriguez and I are both new to the area. I had "No Idea" where our appointments were for today until I spent 1 hr 30 min searching the map of the area. I had “No Idea” how much I missed the city till I got to Puebla . I have "No Idea" how this change will go, but I DO know that this is a great opportunity and I plan to take it with everything I’ve got.
We got up this morning, hoping that we could get hot water going. It is very cold here at this time of the year. The shower doesn’t run hot water, so we got the water straight from the boiler and into a bucket. A cup then served as our stuttering shower head. I then started preparing the first district meeting that I will be in charge of and I am kinda nervous. We had our studies and all that jazz, and we left the house at 10:00 to look for the Bishop and the Presidenta of the Relief Society.
Sister Villegas (Presidenta) is really great and has a meteor that fell in front of her house. I’ll sent a picture later.
We then went to the Bishop’s house and he cordially welcomed us to the area. He is big on missionary work and let us know that we have lots to do inside and outside the ward. He also said that the members would make sure that we ate well..... WOOHOO!!!
We then started the big adventure of crossing town and looking for our first appointment, Obdilon. We didn’t find him. His street apparently has 3 houses that have the same number as his address, but we still didn’t find the right house. Unfortunately, we don’t have records of the investigators so we have nothing to go off except his name and his address that we couldn’t find.
We did some contacting on the way to our food appointment, but people weren’t very receptive because the market is here Mondays and Tuesdays and it is the biggest Flea market south of the border. I’m excited to check that out next week! The food was amazing. We got there and the Sister had ordered food from nearby. Before the food got there, the Sister’s son walks in and demands that they order pizza for us. We ate both. We ate well. :)
Another two appointments and no one was home so here we are and there goes my time. I love you all and I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas!!!! :D
With numb fingers,
Elder Heath
